Among Dublin's most impressive and interactive day trips lies the National Art Gallery, a museum that exhibits beautiful pieces that will doubtlessly evoke emotions of joy and amazement. The Gallery, situated in the heart of Ireland's beating capital, is the perfect artistic experience for those looking for something more creative to do this Winter - with constantly evolving exhibitions and uniquely large art collections, visitors are bound to enjoy all the gallery has to offer.
Not only does the gallery offer unique experiences to visitors, it also has a large amount of alterations and additives to help with the building’s, as well as experience’s, accessible.
Similarly to the Hugh Lane Dublin City gallery, all gallery facilities are wheelchair accessible. As well as this, there is also a number of wheelchairs available to borrow at the entrance desk of the gallery if inquired on arrival. Guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome in the gallery.
However, one of the most unique aspects to the gallery are the tours and talks available to the public, catering to all the needs of visitors. This resource includes tours for the hard of hearing which consist of a free tour that explores some of the highlights in the gallery’s permanent collection, utilizing listening devices throughout.
This tour takes place the first tour of every month at 5:30 pm, with the next tour being on the 1st of December. Irish sign language tours are soon to join the wide variation of resources on offer, but no date has yet been given for the start of this program.
The gallery offers online sensory activities for children, to help engage their senses through creating activities, especially good for those who seek sensory input.
Finally, the gallery is also nationally recognized for its trusted standard in autism inclusion and accessibility. The National art gallery is the first national cultural institution to receive this accreditation.
