Top Tips for Pricing Your Artwork
1. Know your costs
Think about how much money you spent making the artwork. This includes:
Materials (paint, canvas, clay, etc.), Frames or packaging, Any transport or postage costs
You should always cover your costs and make a bit extra for your time and effort.
2. Think about your time
Your time is valuable. Ask yourself:
How many hours did I spend on this piece?, What is a fair hourly rate for my work?
Even if you're still learning, your time and skills matter.
3. Start with a simple formula
Another basic way to price your artwork is:
Materials + Time = Minimum Price
Then, if you're ready, you can add a little more for:
Your style or uniqueness, Your experience or training, A small profit
4. Check what others are charging
Look at other artists who are at the same level as you.
What are they charging?, Are their pieces a similar size or style?
