Artist Sarah McNulty

“Creating art makes me feel good, this is news I want to share with everyone. Art should never be judged only enjoyed, it’s a portal to feelings. I would like people to feel happy when looking at my paintings,  through the colour and the characters ”

A person in a short-sleeved, knee-length dress with a vibrant floral print of blue, red, and yellow flowers on a black background, stands in front of a colorful, abstract painting.

My name is Sarah McNulty , I have been living in Clonakilty for the past five years. Creating art has always been part of me. From a very young age my teachers referred to my" Picasso sense of colour", and this is still a very important element of my work.

Ceramics was my first creative outlet, under the guidance of the late Terry O'Farrell. Her support and encouragement helped me make unusual wonderful pieces..

Since moving to West Cork I have been painting and  my creativity has become part of my everyday life. I have been really fortunate to showcase my work through the support of different groups.

As a member of Pauline Walsh's local art group, our exhibitions on Culture Nights enabled me to sell some of my work.

The Connecting Artists Group has helped my self confidence grow, and the studio residency gave me the opportunity to work on large scale pieces which was really exciting. I am really open to trying new ways of painting.  I mostly work with acrylic as it suits me better. For small detailed pieces or textured surfaces I use acrylic pens.  I would like people to feel happy when looking at my paintings,  through the colour and the characters.
