Artist Joe Hallam
“One of my favourite things to do is take a sketchbook and see what different ideas I can draft on each page. I love to draw tree barks, landscapes and flowers. I prefer to use acrylics as they lift the art from the canvas and make more of an impactful, abstract style, which I like.”
“I draw nearly every day as I am determined to be the best artist I can be. A dream of mine is to work for myself as an artist.”
My name is Joe Hallam and I am 24 years old. I have been doing art since I was 15.
I live in Enniskerry where I am surrounded by nature which inspires me. I am currently studying art at NLN Park House, Stillorgan under my tutor Paula. I am part of the Connecting Artists Programme and have been part of their exhibition events at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin and the Atypical gallery in Belfast, I participated at the Art Source event in the RDS in November 2024 with other members of the Connections Art Centre community and will have a solo exhibition of my sketches and paintings in December 2024 at the Fairplay Café in Ringsend https://www.fairplaycafe.ie/home-1. And more recently Joe created and facilitated a workshop at Loreto Dalkey as part of Neurodivergent week.
Two of my favourite artists are Vincent van Gough and Leonardo da Vinci – I use their paintings and styles to inspire my own art and to help improve my techniques – I love van Gough so much my class mates gave me the nickname Vincent van Joey! One of my favourite things to do is take a sketchbook and see what different ideas I can draft on each page. I love to draw tree barks, landscapes and flowers. I prefer to use acrylics as they lift the art from the canvas and make more of an impactful, abstract style, which I like.
I draw nearly every day as I am determined to be the best artist I can be. A dream of mine is to work for myself as an artist. I am very excited to be featured in more art exhibitions and if you enjoy my paintings, please check out my Instagram page
