Artist Ava Lawlor

“ I love to capture what I see and feel and take inspiration from the world around me. I feel calm and relax doing my artwork, and I am always very happy when I finish it. I feel very happy and proud to show everybody my artwork…””

My name is Ava Lawlor. I am 21 years old from Dublin. I have enjoyed participating in art for as long as I can remember.

No, I don’t study art, but my family taught me years ago and I go to art class in college two days a week.

Sometimes I watch art videos and sometimes I look at pictures on the computer, and I get great ideas from that. I use black and white pencil. I love to sketch with pencils and add colour using felt tip markers as opposed to paint. I find comfort and creativity in simple lines.

My style is different monster, dragon, and anime characters. I like to show how I can draw a picture from my photo and turn it into a human and monster all together. I love to capture what I see and feel and take inspiration from the world around me.

I feel calm and relax doing my artwork, and I am always very happy when I finish it. I feel very happy and proud to show everybody my artwork at the Royal College of Surgeons.

I would always love to try different things in my art, for example putting my art on T-shirts, Jumpers and hoodies in the future.
